ABSTRACT:
This is a 5 page paper discussing questions relating to a case study of two psychological studies regarding the question of mental representations. Studies by Eleanor Rosch who provides examples of mental concepts represented by typical and atypical cases; and Christopher Cherniak who extends Rosch’s conclusions to include aspects of reasoning, are examined in regards at how they address the realism and operationalism accounts of scientific methodology. Criticism from B.F. Skinner’s “Science and Human Behavior” is included.
